Let's see...
Our second tournament, and another success, I think.
Though much like my english homework, I've chosen to lay the review
off a couple days weeks, I'll try my best to remember
some of the cooler happenings of this event.
Planning on having 4 events was a little foolish on my part, especially
when one of the games was Mario Party. So, we had to cut DDR, which
will most likely be played at the next BEACHBMM (Sorry Marks twins and Riley).
Battlefront II was viewed as somewhat random in terms of the AI's skill,
and the 'fairness' of levels was also judged, so we ended up playing
every tourney match on Kamino, which still had its many moments of "WTF?"
It was cool to see two newcomers (Tnor and Scott) take the first and second places, and I'm hoping that they'll continue to participate in upcoming tourneys.
Ike might have made the top three a complete set of newbies, if he didn't
focus so much on groin shots. *sigh*
Double Dash combined all that goodness you'd expect from a Mario Kart game, with the quality teamwork that is so emphasized in TV these days.
Me and Riley seemed like pretty strong players, but victory was snatched from us by Birdo and Bowser Nels and Jackson, who oddly enough steered through the use of the juke function. "I lost, to a bunch of losers!" You said it Wario...
It was funny to note that all entrants to the MKDD tourney played some assortment of Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Koopa, Paratroopa, and the koopa karts, besides me and Riley, who were riding in style with the Wario Car.
Also, Eric Weigle, who makes a name for himself by not playing video games in the least, managed to take the title of 3rd place, along with Jamnt0ast. Go figure
Mario Party, was quite literally video game hell.
What started out as sweet nostalgia of the colorful and quirky game boards, and erratic yet loveable minigames, soon turned into hours and hours of pressing A, asking how many turns were left, and grimacing everytime the chance cubes landed on "Wario gives Mario 30 coins".
Only now are my wounds healing from such an endeavor, and next time I will be sure to either play only minigame modes, or simply clear my head of any competetive Mario Party plans.
All in all, it was a pretty fun tourney, though the lack of BEACH dealt quite the blow.
Once again, thanks to all the folks who participated, and we hope to see you at the next tournament!
